When should guitar frets be replaced?
Frets wear with use. Mechanical problems such as notes choking during bends or persistent buzzing caused by worn frets may require local leveling or, in more severe cases, fret replacement. An inspection can determine which approach is appropriate.
The neck is uncomfortable — what can be done?
Electric and many acoustic guitars include an adjustable truss rod. Classical guitars may not provide the same adjustment range. Severe neck deformation requires professional assessment; specialist heating and correction techniques may sometimes be considered.
Should a guitar be stored on a wall hanger?
The original page recommends a good case or quality gig bag rather than relying on a wall hanger for long-term storage, particularly where humidity and environmental exposure can affect the instrument.
Can a bass be played through an electric-guitar amp?
It is generally not recommended at significant volume because bass frequencies can stress speakers designed for electric guitar. An electric guitar can usually be played through a bass amplifier, although the tonal result will differ.
Can acoustic or classical guitar be played through an electric-guitar amp?
It can work, but the sound may not represent the natural acoustic instrument. An acoustic amplifier or suitable full-range system is generally better suited to amplified acoustic instruments.
Should I buy a guitar with built-in amplification?
The original page suggests considering the quality of the acoustic instrument first. Any suitable guitar can later be equipped with a dedicated pickup/amplification system, often allowing a system to be chosen specifically for the player.
Can a classical or acoustic guitar be amplified?
Yes. Modern pickup and microphone systems are available across a broad price range and can be installed in many classical and acoustic guitars.
Can a strap button be installed?
A strap button can be installed on classical or acoustic guitars where appropriate. Because drilling into an instrument requires accuracy and the correct wood bit, workshop installation is recommended.
What if the bridge has lifted from the body?
On classical and acoustic guitars, bridges can lift because of glue failure, age, heat, humidity or string tension. The guitar should be inspected and repaired rather than simply re-glued without assessing the wood and geometry.
